A blog is a work in progress, and this one is no exception.
I started this blog a little over six months ago as a whirlwind, producing five and sometimes six new articles every week. The problem with whirlwinds is, well, they are whirlwinds. Lots of movement in all directions. For now, I am trying to hold it down to a strong breeze with occasional gusts, meaning more direction with less movement. What am I talking about? I am still writing as much, but I want to give more thought to each new post, so I am planning to give you three new and improved articles each week (Monday – Wednesday – Friday), along with a Saturday Roundup post. You can expect each Friday post to be a biblically based article pertaining to money. Yes, this is a subtle change…one that many of you wouldn’t otherwise notice, but I hope the trade from quantity to quality will better serve you. As always, I appreciate your input, so let me know what you think.
Each Saturday I let you know what I have been reading during the past week. There are lots of great blogs and lots of great reading, but here are some of the posts that I have enjoyed:
- First allow me to guide you to Could We…Should We Pay Off Our Home Early?, a post I wrote for Christian PF. I was honored to be asked to do some writing for this very successful Christian personal finance blog, so I will be sure to keep you updated as more of my posts are run there. While you are at Christian PF, check out what Bob has been learning about Where to Find Affordable Health Insurance for the Self Employed. I especially liked the link he gives to get instant online quotes.
- Wealth Pilgrim shares real life conflict in How to Fix a Marriage After Financial Infidelity. Neal gives his take on what happened and some common sense ideas on what to do now.
- Do you use Facebook? Are you running a small business? Then you need to check out Fiscal Geek as he gives Some Practical Advice For Using Facebook For Your Small Business.
- Jeff Rose at Good Financial Cents asks the question Lost and Found: Is the 2000’s the lost decade of investing? Sure, many portfolios have lost value, but what if one continued to invest regularly throughout the decade? He also offers insight into whether you should purchase mortgage protection life insurance or term life insurance.
- Need a laugh and a limerick? Check out Mad Kane’s Humor Blog for both and lots of them. A great break from personal finance.
- How many of you say, when learning about handling money, “I wish I would have known this when I was younger.” Adam writes Get A Financial Education In Your Twenties, a great guest post for The Digerati Life. This could be something you want to pass on to your kids…or your grandkids. Good stuff.
I have participated in the following Carnivals this week. These Carnivals are full of great writing, so give them a browse:
