Father’s Day Bragging / Weekly Roundup

OK Call me nostalgic or sappy or both, but I just can’t bring myself to throw my special Father’s Day cards away.  At the risk of sounding like a braggart, allow me to share to of the things my kids have written in these cards from Father’s Days past.

“Thank you for all of your leadership, discipline and love over the years.  You are an amazing role model for me when I have kids.”

“Every year that passes I realize all over again that I am blessed beyond measure to not just have you in my life but to have you as my dad!”

“Thank you for being an awesome example to all of your kids.  Your guidance and leadership have done great things for us.  You are the father that I hope to be to my children some day.  Thank you for that.”

And from Jan, “You are such a good example of what a good father is.  I am proud of you!”

My dad and my wife’s dad are no longer with us.  Do you still have your father?  If so, do something to make his day special.  It will mean more to him than you could ever imagine.  To all of you dads:

Happy Father’s Day!

Lost my dad when I was 8. I hardly knew him. So, fathers day is one of those holidays I never celebrated. I usually hope it will pass by without me knowing about it. Heck, I can’t even blog about it since I know nothing about it. What would I say?

I can tell you that having a father in the family is very important to a child’s development. Too often you see our media and culture downplaying the fathers role. Don’t believe it for one second. Fathers are important.

Hope all you dads out there enjoy your day.

@ FFB,
Thanks, and wishing you a great Father’s Day too.

@Arthur,
My father left my mom and me and my two older sisters for another woman when I was 3, so I can identify with you somewhat. When I married Jan, her dad (Irvin, whom I have written about several times in this blog) became a dad to me. He encouraged me and accepted me and loved me and I soaked it up. A couple of years later, when I became a Christian, I began to appreciate my heavenly Father as a Dad. Then, when I became a dad myself, I really identified with God as a father figure because I knew that he loved me more then I loved my own children, which seemed inconceivable.

Looking back, now that my kids are grown, I realize that Irvin and God himself have been my role models for fatherhood. I consider myself very fortunate!

While my son bought his, it really represents him.

It’s a dad cooking on a grill then you pull out a tab a fire engine sounds happens. I was touched because my son is a big fire fighter enthusiast, so I know he choose it!

My daughter’s 6, and she made me a card too. Very cute. So I can see why you would want to keep it out for a while!

I have a deep desk drawer that I store all of the things my son and daughter make :)
